ACLLA - ANN'S CHOICE LIFELONG LEARNING ACADEMY

 

Dr. Kelly Kirby opened the ACLLA Spring, 2019 Semester. She introduced us to the cultural meaning of fashion from an Anthropological perspective.  Dr. Kirby has degrees in: Fashion Design, Anthropology, Museum Studies and is a Professor of Art History at the Moor College of Art

 

This article about Ann's Choice Lifelong Learning Academy appeared in the Erickson Tribune

                                  What's Not Apparent in Apparel

This lecture provided historical, cross-cultural examples of how politics, economics and culture influence trends in dress and fashion.

Dr. Kelly presented case studies from her research in Africa as a Cultural Anthropologist and we learned about the many areas under the classification of "Anthropoligist"

We meet on the 2nd Monday of the month at 10:00 am in the Keystone Multipurpose Room.  Join us and discover the many ways you can participate in the Lifelong Learning Program.

The residents of Ann's Choice select a series of lectures which are educational, thought provoking. and enjoyable.  Residents also organize the registration, administration, and technical aspects of the program.  

 



The lectures are offered here at Ann's Choice in the fall and spring at a  very reasonable cost.  During the registration period, lecture series catalogs with registration information are available at each front desk and on the Ann's Choice Resident Website  www.acresidents.org
