The year started off with the grand opening of the Village Group Exercise Room in the Village Clubhouse on January 3 where a new group exercise schedule was given out and refreshments were served.
A new support group was added called Coping with the Israel-Hamas War. Residents and employees are invited to a support group to be with others who are concerned about the Israel-Hamas war. We welcome and support one another in mutual listening and understanding of the various feelings and thoughts in the wake of the Hamas attacks in Israel on October 7, 2023.
Ann's Choice has a new club for residents who want to learn to play the ukelele. The inaugural group drew 24 participants and several more joined in May--seems like a popular hobby.
We also have a group for Baby Boomers, those born between 1946 and 1964.
Our ACLLA has morphed into the Lifelong Learning Series, where presenters put on interesting lectures on many different subjects. The cost is $5 payable at the door.
This year saw a once in a lifetime solar eclipse for residents. Loaner solar glasses were available to protect resident's eyes. These were later collected to benefit children in Latin America who will be getting an August 2024 eclipse.
New in the Fitness Center is an Echelon Bike, a high-tech stationary bike so residents can spin to their heart's content. Residents can make an appointment for a tutorial.
Another new activity is Let's Play Catch. They meet in the Liberty Commons Clubhouse Lobby and have a variety of balls and gloves for residents use.
We now have a Mensa Club this year with different activities throughout the year.
The fitness center will be having more group exercise classes this summer starting June 3 and will publish their 2024 summer schedule soon. Another fitness activity instituted is Cardio Dance, a free style dance movement to help residents with balance and brain health. A new group exercise room has opened across from the bank in the Village Clubhouse.
The Pride Committee celebrated June by sponsoring a Drag Bingo which included two performers, a Lee's Hoagie lunch, five rounds of bingo and a raffle ticket. It was a sold out event.
A new Skiers Club has begun and meets monthly in the Liberty Music/Classroom. It's a place for any skiers, past or present, to share stories, movies and photos.
Another club debuted this year--he Native Garden Project. 40 residents attended the first meeting. The purposes of the project is to work toward establishing small areas of native landscaping that will attract pollinators and increase the diversity of life on Ann's Choice property; to consider how to reduce the use of toxic chemicals now being sprayed and replacing these chemicals with organic sprays not harmful to other living things.
